| Reverse description | The reverse presents a colourized oval portrait of Shanawdithit, the last known member of the Beothuk people of Newfoundland, set within a gold-toned beaded cartouche positioned in the upper-centre of the fan-shaped field. A geometric star-and-grid pattern in warm tones serves as the background within the oval. Engraved maple leaf sprays in fine detail extend across the mirrored silver field to the left and right of the portrait. A decorative scrollwork cartouche in the lower field bears the incuse legend SHANAWDITHIT. |
