Obverse description Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II at age 77, rendered in the fourth definitive portrait by Susanna Blunt, depicted bare-headed and wearing a necklace and earrings. The legend encircles the field, reading ELIZABETH II above and D·G·REGINA below, with the date 2017 and denomination 20 DOLLARS also present. The initials SB appear near the truncation, attributing the portrait to the engraver.

Reverse description High-relief depiction of the articulated dorsal exoskeleton of a juvenile Ogygopsis klotzi trilobite, presented in two sections — cephalon and pygidium — set against a textured stone matrix background rendered to simulate a fossilized rock surface. The antique finish enhances the naturalistic, fossil-like appearance of the design. The legend OGYGOPSIS arcs along the left field and CANADA arcs along the right field, flanking the central fossil motif.
