| Reverse description | The reverse depicts a dramatic scene from Anishinaabe legend in which Nanaboozhoo, a prominent cultural hero and trickster figure, is shown cradled within the vast nest of the mighty Thunderbird. The composition, engraved by José Osio and selectively gold-plated, presents Nanaboozhoo kneeling and holding another figure amid the sweeping, outstretched wings of the Thunderbird, whose imposing head dominates the upper field. Fine detail is rendered in the feathering of the great bird's wings, which frame the central figures with striking naturalistic precision. The artist's initials CA appear in the lower right field, and the date and denomination legend 2014 · CANADA · 20 DOLLARS arcs along the upper rim. |
