| Obverse description | The entire field is rendered in high relief as a highly detailed simulation of the lunar surface, covered with craters of varying sizes and depths. At the lower left, the fourth-generation effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by Ian Rank-Broadley is depicted in right-facing profile, diademed and draped, with the engraver's initials IRB beneath the truncation.
