The Majestic Maple Leaves series was part of the Royal Canadian Mint's aggressive push into the collector bullion market during the early 2010s, when demand for fractional and themed silver issues was outpacing traditional numismatic products. The $20-for-$20 program — of which this piece was a part — was designed to sell at face value directly to the public, making entry-level collecting accessible without dealer markup.
