Additional information

Cook Islands issued a wave of high-denomination platinum and gold collector pieces through the 1990s under licensing arrangements with private minting firms — the actual striking almost certainly contracted out rather than produced by any local facility. The "Love Angel" series sits squarely in that promotional collector market, timed to Valentine's gifting cycles and sold through direct marketing channels rather than through conventional numismatic distribution.

KM#459 is one of several platinum fractionals from this issuer where secondary market prices are driven almost entirely by platinum spot, not collector demand.
