Obverse lettering ELIZABETH II D•G•REGINA
(Translation: Elizabeth II Queen by the grace of God)
Reverse description The reverse presents a fully coloured naturalistic scene of a female cougar crouching low on a maple tree limb, her body coiled and her intense gaze fixed forward in a hunting posture. Her extended left forepaw, with claws visibly gripping the branch, and her muscular frame convey imminent explosive power. The composition is enriched by autumnal, orange-hued maple foliage that frames the scene and serves as natural camouflage for the predator. The cougar's long tail curves beneath the limb, providing visual balance to the design. The legend CANADA 20 DOLLARS 2014 and the engraver's initials GL appear along the lower periphery.
