Obverse lettering ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA
(Translation: Elizabeth II Queen by the grace of God)
Reverse description The reverse features a vibrant, fully colored red admiral butterfly (Vanessa atalanta) with richly toned crimson and dark-bordered wings, perched centrally upon a large white daisy blossom rendered in fine engraved detail against a frosted field. Surrounding foliage with serrated leaves completes the naturalistic composition. The legend CANADA arcs along the upper rim, and the denomination 20 DOLLARS appears in raised letters along the lower rim. The date 2016 is inscribed to the right of the butterfly, and the engraver's initials BR appear at lower left of the central motif. The color application is applied to the butterfly wings only, creating a striking contrast with the uncolored silver floral elements.
