Additional information

Part of the Royal Canadian Mint's long-running "Trees of Canada" bullion-adjacent commemorative program, this issue celebrates the balsam poplar — a species whose range extends further north than virtually any other broadleaf tree on the continent, surviving permafrost margins where most hardwoods cannot establish. The .9999 fine silver specification, rather than the more common .999, was a deliberate marketing distinction the RCM adopted aggressively during this period to differentiate its collector silver from competitors.
