Additional information

Issued as part of Canada's official XV Olympic Winter Games program ahead of Calgary 1988, this coin was one of ten silver pieces released across four years to fund infrastructure for the Games. The Calgary organizing committee faced persistent budget pressure throughout the buildup, and the coin program was structured explicitly to generate revenue — each piece sold at a premium well above melt value.

The .925 standard matched the broader series specification set from the program's 1985 launch.
