| Obverse description | The rectangular flan features a highly polished, faceted geometric relief pattern across the entire field, evoking the cut surfaces of a precious gemstone. In the upper portion, a recessed octagonal bezel set houses a large dark Swarovski crystal element in emerald cut form. In the lower portion, a raised circular medallion bears the right-facing diademed and draped effigy of Queen Elizabeth II after the Ian Rank-Broadley portrait, with the legend ELIZABETH II to the left and COOK ISLANDS to the right, the engraver's initials IRB appearing below the bust, and the denomination 20 DOLLARS along the lower arc. The date 2011 appears in raised numerals at the top of the flan above the crystal setting. |
