| Obverse description | The obverse bears the fourth effigy of Queen Elizabeth II by engraver Susan Taylor, depicting the right-facing bust of the Queen at approximately 77 years of age, uncrowned, wearing a necklace and drop earrings. The portrait is rendered in high relief against a plain field. The legend ELIZABETH II encircles the upper portion of the coin, with CANADA and D•G•REGINA completing the inscription around the lower arc.
