| Obverse description | The national coat of arms of Liberia occupies the central field, depicting a sailing ship on the sea with a palm tree and a rising sun to the right, crossed cannons below, and a dove in flight above. The shield is surmounted by a scroll bearing the national motto THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE. The legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA arcs along the upper periphery, with a second inscription REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA appearing on a ribbon at the base.
