Obverse description The obverse bears the uncrowned effigy of King Charles III facing left, rendered in high relief in the contemporary portrait by sculptor Steven Rosati, whose initials SR appear at the truncation. The King is depicted in civilian dress with a collar and tie visible at the bust truncation. The legend CHARLES III arcs along the left field, while D·G·REX arcs along the right field, both in incuse capital letters. The date 2024 appears in the lower exergue. The polished mirror field contrasts sharply with the frosted relief of the portrait, characteristic of proof coinage.

Reverse description The reverse depicts an ornate snowflake brooch rendered in high relief, inspired by the historic Sapphire Jubilee jewellery associated with the Canadian royal tradition. The six-pointed snowflake design features a granulated central boss surrounded by radiating arms adorned with circular and oval settings, the latter inset with royal blue glass stones evoking faceted sapphires. Arrow-shaped points accent the primary axes of the design, and clusters of polished spherical beads articulate the interstices between arms, creating a richly three-dimensional jewellery effect. The legend CANADA arcs along the upper left field and 20 DOLLARS along the lower right field, both in serifed capital letters incuse into the polished ground. The rhodium plating of the coin enhances the contrast between the frosted relief elements and the mirror field.
