The Moon Phases series is one of the Royal Canadian Mint's more technically demanding ongoing programs, requiring selective rhodium plating applied to specific relief areas after striking — a process that demands precise masking to avoid bleed into adjacent fields. Black rhodium on fine silver produces a stark tonal contrast that conventional proof finishing cannot replicate.
KM#3593–3599 suggests seven distinct issues within this release, likely corresponding to individual lunar phases. Charles III's effigy appears here on Canadian coinage still relatively early in his reign, having acceded in September 2022.
