| Obverse description | The obverse displays the coat of arms of the Republic of Liberia at centre, featuring a sailing ship at sea, a palm tree, a rising sun, and a dove in flight, all enclosed within a wreath and surmounted by a scroll bearing the national motto THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE. The circular legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA runs along the upper periphery, with the date 2000 divided on either side of the shield and the denomination 20 DOLLARS inscribed along the lower rim. The inner legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA also appears on a ribbon at the base of the arms. The deeply mirrored proof fields provide strong contrast against the frosted relief elements. |
