| Additional information |
Liberia's commemorative coinage of the early 2000s was produced almost entirely for the collector export market, with virtually no circulation within the country itself. The Battle of Guadalcanal — the six-month Allied campaign fought across the Solomon Islands from August 1942 — was one of the first major Allied offensives in the Pacific theater and is credited with halting Japanese expansion southward.
Liberia had no direct involvement in the Pacific War, which places this squarely in the category of third-party commemoratives issued purely for numismatic sale.
