| Obverse description | The obverse features the national coat of arms of the Republic of Liberia at centre, depicting a three-masted sailing ship on the sea, a palm tree, a rising sun, a dove in flight, and a cannon on the shoreline, all enclosed within a decorative shield surmounted by a scroll bearing the national motto 'THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE'. The outer legend 'REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA' arcs along the upper rim, repeated on a lower scroll beneath the shield. The date '2004' is divided either side of the central device in the lower field. A beaded inner border encircles the design. |

| Additional information |
Liberia's Olympic commemorative program in the early 2000s was essentially a commercial licensing operation — the Central Bank contracted with overseas minting and marketing firms to produce large runs of themed coins aimed squarely at thematic collectors, not Liberian circulation. The Athens 2004 series appeared across dozens of denominations and sports, most struck at private European mints with no meaningful connection to the issuing country.
KM# 762 is one of scores of near-identical issues from this program. Mintage figures were rarely disclosed, and secondary market prices have remained flat for most entries in the series.
