| Obverse description | The central field displays the Coat of Arms of Liberia, featuring a shield with a sailing ship at sea, a palm tree, and a rising sun, surmounted by a dove in flight and flanked by scrollwork. A banner inscribed THE LOVE OF LIBERTY BROUGHT US HERE arches across the upper portion of the shield. The date is divided either side of the arms, with '20' to the left and '00' to the right. The outer legend REPUBLIC OF LIBERIA runs along the upper periphery, while the denomination 20 DOLLARS is inscribed along the lower rim.
