| Obverse description | Dark olive-green intaglio print on a fine guilloche underprint. A portrait vignette of Queen Elizabeth II occupies the right portion of the note, rendered in a youthful likeness after the Annigoni-style engraving adopted for the 1954 series. The centre bears the large bilingual inscription CANADA with the denomination numeral 20 flanked by TWENTY DOLLARS and VINGT DOLLARS, while the lower panel carries the issuer legend BANK OF CANADA – BANQUE DU CANADA along with place and date of issue, Ottawa 1954, and two facsimile signatures. |
