Obverse description The obverse is printed in black on a yellow-gold guilloche underprint. The central vignette is a circular portrait of King Edward VII in military dress uniform, set within an ornate lathe-work frame. The upper register carries the issuer title BANK OF HAMILTON in bold serif lettering, flanked by numeral 20 counters in the upper corners, with the date Hamilton, 2nd Jan. 1904 inscribed to the right and the text DOMINION OF CANADA / WILL PAY TO BEARER / TWENTY DOLLARS / ON DEMAND arranged in panels around the portrait. This is a Specimen note, as indicated by the red overprint SPECIMEN across the face and cancel punch holes.
