Reverse description Engraved entirely in green, the reverse is centred on a detailed architectural vignette of the Bank of Montreal's head office, a neoclassical building with a grand colonnaded portico, enclosed within an elaborate border of guilloche scrollwork with radiating fan ornaments at each lower corner. The denomination 'TWENTY DOLLARS' is inscribed across the upper margin flanking the central vignette, with counter numerals '20' at the lower corners. The imprint of the American Bank Note Company, New York appears in small lettering along the lower margin.
