Obverse description Black intaglio on white paper with a large orange TWENTY DOLLARS letterpress underprint across the centre. A central oval vignette shows a three-masted sailing vessel at sea; denomination numerals 20 appear in ornate guilloche cartouches at left and right, with TWENTY DOLLARS in vertical panels on both side borders. Dated Halifax, Nova Scotia, 1st October 1864, with SPECIMEN overprint in red.
