| Obverse description | A tribute obverse presenting four overlapping right-facing effigies of Queen Elizabeth II at successive stages of her reign, arranged in diminishing scale from left to right across the field, evoking the full span of her 70-year reign. The foremost and largest effigy, based on the Susanna Blunt portrait, depicts the Queen in mature age wearing a diadem and pearl necklace; behind it appear three progressively younger portraits, each wearing a small crown, rendered in graduated relief. The regnal dates 1952 and 2022 flank a Tudor rose ornament in the lower field, with the surrounding legend ELIZABETH II D·G·REGINA inscribed along the lower arc in Latin characters. |

| Reverse description | The reverse features an elaborate engraved border of ornate filigree and beaded scrollwork inlaid with alternating rectangular blue and green glass stones set in octagonal silver mounts, interspersed at cardinal points with four clear crystal insets, evoking the jewelled arches of the Imperial State Crown. At the centre of the field, the engraved royal cypher E II R is surmounted by a finely detailed rendering of the Imperial State Crown, framed by foliate sprays. Below the cypher, the denomination 20 DOLLARS and the issuing country CANADA are inscribed in two lines in the lower portion of the central field, all in Latin characters against a matte-finish background. |
