The Bahrain Monetary Agency's third series, of which this is part, was introduced progressively through the late 1990s as Bahrain consolidated its position as a regional financial hub following the disruptions of the 1991 Gulf War. Thomas De La Rue had printed Bahraini notes since the Currency Board era of the 1960s, and the relationship remained unbroken through every issuing authority transition.
Pick 22 is among the less commonly encountered denominations from this series in circulated grades — the 20 Dinar face value kept most examples in institutional rather than retail use.
