Additional information

Britain's commemorative coin industry in the early 1990s was producing anniversary issues at a pace that stretched the definition of "occasion." The 40th coronation anniversary fell in 1993, and a cluster of Commonwealth and associated nations issued silver pieces in the 31g range — most struck by the same handful of private mints handling sovereign contracts. The Gambia's entry into this market was largely driven by collector revenue rather than domestic circulation demand.

KM#32 sees essentially no use as a transactional coin.
