Additional information

The Turks and Caicos Islands have no meaningful historical connection to the Titanic — this is a frankly commercial commemorative, issued the same year James Cameron's film generated a global revival of interest in the disaster. The timing is not coincidental. These crown-sized pieces were produced for the collector market rather than circulation, and the .999 silver specification targets bullion-adjacent buyers rather than numismatists with any regional focus.

The wreck had been located by Robert Ballard in 1985, thirteen years before this coin was struck.
