The Turks and Caicos Islands adopted the crown as their official currency unit in 1969, denominated against the US dollar, which remains the territory's actual medium of exchange — crowns exist almost exclusively as collector issues. This 20-crown denomination has no practical circulation history whatsoever.
KM#100 is part of a prolific early-1990s program that saw the islands issue silver one-ounce pieces across multiple commemorative themes, capitalizing on the bullion coin market that had expanded sharply after the American Silver Eagle's 1986 launch.
