Reverse description Conjoined busts in left profile occupy the central field: to the rear, the armoured and helmeted effigy of Spanish conquistador Jorge de Alvarado, founder of San Salvador in 1525, overlapped by the larger civilian draped bust of Salvadoran President Alfonso Quiñónez Molina. The legend J. DE ALVARADO appears to the left of the busts and A. QUIÑONEZ M. to the right. The commemorative inscription IV CENTENARIO FUNDACION SAN SALVADOR arcs around the upper periphery, with the anniversary dates 1525-1925 prominently displayed above the busts. The Mexican Mint mark Mo appears in small letters at the bottom of the field, flanked by two five-pointed stars, all within a toothed border.
