| Obverse description | The post-1994 South African coat of arms is depicted in high relief at the centre of the field, featuring a Bataleur eagle with outstretched wings above a shield bearing two human figures, flanked by wheat stalks and supported by crossed spears and a knobkerrie. The motto ribbon below the shield bears the ǀXam Khoisan legend '!KE Eː/XARRA //KE'. The date '2003' appears in the upper legend, and the country name 'SOUTH AFRICA' is inscribed in a bold arc along the lower rim, engraved by Arthur Sutherland. |
