| Obverse description | Seated allegorical figure of Marianne facing left, radiate-crowned and draped in classical robes, holding a fasces upright in her left hand while her right arm rests upon a support; a sheaf of grain appears to the left in the field, and an anchor is visible to the lower right. The circular legend REPUBLIQUE FRANCAISE runs along the periphery, divided on either side of the effigy, with the date 1937 and the engraver's name BARRE inscribed in the exergue. The design is executed in the neoclassical style characteristic of the Paris Mint's late nineteenth- and early twentieth-century coinage. |
