| Obverse description | Left-facing crowned effigy of King George VI, engraved by Percy Metcalfe, whose initials 'PM' appear in the field below the truncation. The king is depicted bare-necked beneath an ornate Imperial State Crown rendered in fine detail. The encircling legend reads GEORGE VI KING AND EMPEROR OF INDIA, with a centred dot separating the conclusion of the legend at the lower left. A toothed border frames the entire design. |
