Reverse description The reverse features the iconic AC/DC band logo rendered in pad-printed color at the center of the field, depicting the letters AC and DC in the band's distinctive bold, angular typeface separated by a stylized lightning bolt, all enclosed within a circular emblem. The central device is set against a dark, textured background applied via pad printing, evoking the visual aesthetic of a vinyl record with concentric circular grooves radiating outward from the central motif. The overall design commemorates the 45th anniversary of the legendary Australian rock band AC/DC. No additional legends or inscriptions appear on the reverse field beyond the band's logo.

Additional information

AC/DC formed in Sydney in November 1973, and by the time they recorded Highway to Hell in 1979, they had already lost and replaced multiple members. The band's inclusion on circulating coinage — rather than a limited collector's release — reflects how completely they've been absorbed into Australian national identity, a status that would have seemed unlikely during their early years playing pubs on the Sydney circuit.

The pad printing process used here applies color or detail directly onto the struck planchet, a technique the RAM has refined over the past decade for commemorative issues intended for general circulation.
