Additional information

Released to mark the 40th anniversary of AC/DC's Back in Black album, this is one of several music-themed circulating commemoratives the Royal Australian Mint has issued under its broader licensing program. Back in Black was recorded in the Netherlands in 1980, just weeks after the death of vocalist Bon Scott, and went on to become one of the best-selling albums in recorded history. The pad-printing process — applied color on a standard planchet — is notoriously susceptible to wear, meaning circulated examples lose their visual impact quickly.
