The sixth portrait of Elizabeth II, by Canadian sculptor Jody Clark, was introduced across Commonwealth coinages from 2015 onward — making it the first portrait of the monarch adopted by Australia that was not sculpted by a British artist working under the Royal Mint's direction. Clark won an internal competition within the Royal Mint, a process that bypassed the customary advisory committee, causing some friction among established portrait sculptors.
