| Reverse description | Central depiction of Pukaki, a Rangatira (chief) of the Ngāti Whakaue iwi of Te Arawa, rendered in the style of traditional Māori figurative carving. The figure is shown frontally in a dynamic stance with characteristic kowhaiwhai scroll motifs and carved surface patterning. The original carving, dating to 1836, is housed in the Rotorua Museum. Flanking Māori decorative motifs frame the central figure, and the numeral '20' appears in the field. |
