Issued to mark the 25th anniversary of Australia's involvement in UN peacekeeping operations, this coin coincided with renewed public attention on the role of the Australian Defence Force in multinational missions across Cambodia, East Timor, and the Solomon Islands. Australia has contributed personnel to UN peacekeeping missions since 1947, making it one of the longer-standing contributors in the program's history.
