Additional information

The 1951 Federation Florin this coin replicates was struck to mark the fiftieth anniversary of Australian federation, making it one of the few florins issued under George VI with a purely commemorative purpose rather than general circulation. By 1998, the original had become a collector's touchstone — the Masterpiece in Silver series was RAM's attempt to reissue classic Australian coin designs in fine silver at a time when the mint was aggressively expanding its bullion and proof programs. The .999 silver specification exceeds the sterling standard of the original by a considerable margin.
