| Obverse description | The obverse features the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, modelled by Ian Rank-Broadley, depicted in right-facing profile wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara. The Queen's neckline is bare and the portrait is rendered with fine detail in the hair and facial features. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper left field, while AUSTRALIA and the date 2001 arc along the right. The engraver's initials IRB appear discreetly below the truncation of the neck. |

| Reverse description | The reverse presents a bold commemorative design by Jenifer Gray centred on the large numeral '20', whose oval forms the focal point from which radiating lines extend across the field, dividing it into segments representing Queensland's cultural and historical identity. The left segment depicts an elaborate Aboriginal-style sea creature rendered in dotted and flowing motifs, evoking Indigenous heritage, while the right segment features a stylised modern cityscape with geometric architectural elements symbolising contemporary Queensland. Additional Aboriginal dot-pattern motifs are scattered throughout the field, and the dates 1901 and 2001 appear at the upper left and upper right respectively, marking the centenary of Australian Federation. The state name QUEENSLAND is inscribed along the lower field, with the engraver's initials JG at the lower right. |
