| Obverse description | Right-facing effigy of Queen Elizabeth II in the fourth portrait, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs above, with AUSTRALIA 2017 below the portrait, and the designer's initials IRB appear in the lower field. The portrait is attributed to sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley, whose refined and mature rendering of the Queen became standard on Australian coinage from 1999. |
