Obverse description The obverse bears the fourth definitive effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, facing right, wearing the Girls of Great Britain and Ireland tiara, as modelled by sculptor Ian Rank-Broadley. The legend ELIZABETH II arcs along the upper left rim, with AUSTRALIA continuing along the upper right, and the date 2018 positioned at the lower right. The engraver's initials IRB appear in small relief at the base of the truncation. The portrait is rendered with fine detail in the hair and crown, characteristic of the Rank-Broadley series adopted by Australian coinage from 1999.
