Obverse description Right-facing crowned effigy of Queen Elizabeth II, rendered in the third portrait by Raphael David Maklouf, depicting the Queen wearing the George IV State Diadem with pearl drop earrings and a necklace. The truncation of the bust is visible at the lower field. The legend 'ELIZABETH II' arcs along the left periphery, with 'FIJI' and the date appearing along the right periphery. The engraver's initials 'RDM' appear below the truncation.

Reverse description Central design featuring a tabua — a polished sperm whale tooth suspended from a braided cord of looped sennit fibre (magimagi, woven from coconut or Pandanus fibre) — a traditional Fijian ceremonial object of great cultural significance used as a ritual gift. The denomination '20' appears to the left of the tabua and 'CENTS' to the right, with the full legend 'TWENTY CENTS' completing the identification of the face value. The design is set within a plain field with no additional ornamentation.
