| Reverse description | A duck-billed platypus (Ornithorhynchus anatinus) is depicted in left-facing profile, shown swimming with naturalistic vigour amid stylised rippling water lines that extend across the left and upper portions of the field. The denomination numeral 20 is prominently placed to the upper right in frosted relief against the mirrored field. The designer's initials SD appear incused in the lower field adjacent to the platypus. The reverse carries no peripheral legend, with the frosted matte finish of the central device contrasting effectively with the polished field. |

Issued to mark Elizabeth II's 90th birthday in 2016, this piece is one of several commemoratives the Royal Australian Mint released that year with a frosted reverse finish applied to standard circulation coin blanks — a relatively economical production method that allowed wider distribution than a full proof issue. Elizabeth II turned 90 on 21 April 2016, making her the longest-lived British monarch at that point. The KM#66 reference places this within the broader 20-cent type, with the modified finish being the sole distinction from standard currency stock.
