Obverse description Right-facing crowned effigy of King Edward VII, rendered in high relief after the portrait by George William de Saulles. The king is depicted wearing the Imperial State Crown and robes of state with elaborate collar and decorations visible at the truncation. The surrounding legend reads EDWARDVS VII DEI GRATIA REX IMPERATOR, separated by a cross pattee, and the field is bounded by a fine dentilated border. The engraver's initials DES appear discreetly below the bust truncation.
