| Reverse description | Blue intaglio-printed reverse with a dense guilloche background. The numeral 20 appears in each of the four corners within decorative cartouches. A large ornate central vignette carries the bold intaglio numeral 20 over the words TWENTY CENTS in a ribbon-style banner. The issuer's name THE CENTRAL BANK OF CHINA arches along the top in capital letters between decorative flourishes. Two facsimile signatures appear below the central vignette, captioned GENERAL MANAGER and ASST. GEN. MANAGER respectively, with the date 1940 in a panel at the foot. |
