Obverse description The Peruvian national arms are depicted centrally, featuring a quartered shield with a vicuña at pasture in the upper left canton, a cinchona tree in the upper right canton, and a cornucopia in the lower half, all surmounted by a small civic wreath. The shield is flanked by two laurel and palm sprigs tied at the base with a ribbon, with an additional wreath arching over the top of the shield. The circular legend REPUBLICA PERUANA. LIMA. 9 DECIMOS FINO M. B. runs along the periphery, with the date 1855 appearing in the exergue below the sprigs.
