| Additional information |
French Guiana never received an official colonial coinage in 1887 — metropolitan French currency circulated by default. This piece exists as a pattern, meaning it was struck for submission or evaluation purposes and never approved for circulation. Tin was an unusual choice for pattern work of this denomination; aluminium and bronze were far more common trial materials in late 19th-century French colonial proposals. No production issue followed.
