| Reverse description | The denomination numeral 20 is prominently displayed in large raised digits at the top of the field, flanking the central round hole on either side with a finely detailed oak branch bearing acorns, rendered in high relief. The word CENTIMES appears in bold capital letters across the lower field, and the date 1942 is inscribed beneath it, flanked by small decorative elements. The word ESSAI appears in small capitals below the date in the exergue, identifying this piece as a trial strike. The overall composition is balanced and characteristic of French token and essai coinage of the Vichy period. |
