| Obverse description | Bare-headed left-facing effigy of King Victor Emmanuel III occupies the central field, rendered in high relief with finely detailed facial features in a bold modernist style characteristic of Italian Fascist-era coinage. The circular legend reads VITT·EM·III· to the upper left and RE·E·IMP· to the right, abbreviating Vittorio Emanuele III Re e Imperatore (King and Emperor). The engraver's signature G. ROMAGNOLI appears in small capitals along the lower rim below the portrait. Two small raised dots serve as separators within the legend. The overall composition is austere and powerful, with the truncated bust filling the obverse field. |

| Reverse description | The reverse features a right-facing allegorical bust of Italia, her flowing hair swept back in undulating waves, positioned to the right of the field. To her left stands a tall fasces — the bundled rods with an axe, a principal symbol of Italian Fascism — rendered in sharp relief with a Savoy cross shield at its center. The vertical legend ITALIA runs along the right rim. In the lower exergue, the denomination C.20 is prominently displayed, flanked by the Fascist era regnal year XVIII and the calendar year 1939, with the Rome mint mark R to the lower left. The design is the work of Giuseppe Romagnoli and exemplifies the monumental aesthetic of Italian coinage of the period. |
