| Obverse description | The Bolivian national coat of arms occupies the central field, depicting Cerro Potosí above a plain with an alpaca to the left and a breadfruit tree to the right, all surmounted by a condor with outstretched wings perched atop the shield. Six Bolivian flags and six cannons radiate symmetrically from behind the shield, with a laurel branch to the left and an olive branch to the right. A row of nine five-pointed stars arcs along the lower periphery of the field. The circular legend REPUBLICA BOLIVIANA is inscribed along the upper rim in Latin characters. |

The mintmark letters C and F appear in the lower left and right fields respectively, flanking the eagle. The denomination 20 CENTs and the date 1868 are inscribed along the lower arc of the coin. The circular legend MONEDA EMITIDA EN LA PAZ runs along the upper rim, indicating this pattern was issued in the city of La Paz. |
